Loess soil distribution and properties in Mongolia

چکیده
Loess and loess-like soil formations are distributed in 3 regions across Mongolia. The lower part of the Orkhon Selenge river basin North Mongolia is main loess area another two located east Mongolia, Onon Ulz basins Khalka Gol area. Loess-like covers a total 109,000 sq.km or 6.95 per cent territory country. properties have been studied on basis 8 sections 83 samples. Fine sand fraction predominant granulometric composition its mean value 51.3 cent, silt content about 34.9 cent. A typical non-stony fine sand, but there also gravel loess. average stone sediments 8.1 sandy doesn’t contain any stone, coarse fragment high (20.5 cent) There higher (57.0 as compared to (47.4 cent). Mongolian calcium carbonate 2.9 Organic Matter (0.93 than Chinese (0.41 Using 14C isotope data analysis sediment we tried define stratigraphy. Lower base section silty 1-3 meter thick layers were mostly formed during mid-Holocene (7.5-3.0 ka) period. Upper parts 1.0-0.7 top accumulated late Holocene (3ka BP present) Kastanozem topsoil humus horizon (15-30 cm) formation starts at 1.5-1.0 ka BP. Mid-Holocene period probably witnessed most active accumulation with warm dry windy condition prevailing. Sandy thickness 1-2 meters predominate some places reaches up 20-30 meters.

Links between Soil Fungal Diversity and Plant and Soil Properties on the Loess Plateau
Previous studies have revealed inconsistent correlations between fungal diversity and plant/soil properties from local to global scales. Here, we investigated the internal relationships between soil fungal diversity and plant/soil properties on the Loess Plateau following vegetation restoration, using Illumina sequencing of the internal transcribed spacer 2 (ITS2) region for fungal identificati...
متن کاملLand-use types and soil chemical properties influence soil microbial communities in the semiarid Loess Plateau region in China
Similar land-use types usually have similar soil properties, and, most likely, similar microbial communities. Here, we assessed whether land-use types or soil chemical properties are the primary drivers of soil microbial community composition, and how changes in one part of the ecosystem affect another. We applied Ion Torrent sequencing to the bacterial and fungal communities of five different ...
متن کاملChanges in soil properties with vegetation types in highland grassland of the Loess Plateau, China
The response of soil properties to vegetation types is still not well understood and the relationship between vegetation types and soil properties has not been quantified in highland grasslands. A field experiment was conducted in highland grassland of the Loess Plateau in China to study the distribution of soil properties under different vegetation. 22 plant communities totaling 17 species tha...
متن کاملNitrogen deposition alters soil chemical properties and bacterial communities in the Inner Mongolia grassland.
Nitrogen deposition has dramatically altered biodiversity and ecosystem functioning on the earth; however, its effects on soil bacterial community and the underlying mechanisms of these effects have not been thoroughly examined. Changes in ecosystems caused by nitrogen deposition have traditionally been attributed to increased nitrogen content. In fact, nitrogen deposition not only leads to inc...
متن کاملEffects of sewage sludge and its biochar on soybean yield in fine-textured loess soil
Background: The application of biochar as a soil amendment has achieved popularity and has been found to improve considerably soil nutrient status and plant productivity in low fertile soils. Methods: This study used two different methods to apply sewage sludge and sewage sludge biochar with three replicates in a completely randomized block design. The experiment included (1) control, (2) mulc...
